Since the slide switch is the most used part of the device, it is essential to offer a durable and reliable over time dictation slide switch in order to support daily dictation use. The built-in optical switch simplifies the structure of the slide switch component to reduce wear while offering intuitive smooth and defined movement of the switch to manage your digital dictation recording.

Efficient Workflow with built-in Wi-Fi

Share your digital dictation audio files anytime from anywhere. Thanks to the Olympus DS-9500 Wi-Fi connectivity, dictation authors no longer need to return to a computer to download the dictations to the Olympus ODMS dictation and transcription workflow, you can send the dictations via Wi-Fi at any time. Files can be transferred directly to your local/ network folder, or via e-mail. Files sent to a folder managed under the Olympus ODMS Windows software can receive the transcription status back on the device, allowing the dictation Authors to follow the status of their dictation.

Full ODMS Workflow Integration

Packaged with next-generation Olympus Dictation Management System (ODMS) Windows software, compatible with Dragon speech recognition software from Nuance, the Olympus DS-9500 is an essential part of any legal or medical practice dictation workflow directly out of the box. Support for up to 32 index marks per dictation file makes it easy for authors and transcription typists to locate critical or key information.

Enhanced Speech Recognition Accuracy

The Olympus DS-9500 incorporates low noise omni-directional microphones in a  shock resistant mounting which reduces noise. The Triple-Layer Pop-Filter helps to block speech wind noise when talking into the microphones. Speech recognition accuracy is dependent on the signal-to-noise ratio of the recording,  achieving clearer voice and lower background noise key factors in automated voice-to-text accuracy. The Beam Forming microphone function works to suppress background noise from surroundings, enhancing only the voice. Strong directionality is achieved through the Intelligent Dual Microphone System which actively monitors and analyses the phase difference while recording. Users can choose three different recording modes, Dictation for Quiet Environment, Dictation for Noisy Environment and Conference Recording mode. The Olympus DS-9500 in Conference Recording mode can be used to record meetings and interviews.

Endless Flexibility

The Olympus DS-95000 along with its ODMS software offers an array of functions and configuration options to suit your business needs. With individual DSS Pro (.ds2) audio file encryption, audio codec conversions to older .dss or open format .mp3, file indexing options, as well as support for multiple work types on the device (e.g. flag dictations as a letter or consult) makes the Olympus DS-9500 configurable to suit any business need, in any IT environment. The Olympus ODMS software is compatible with Windows 10 (and older 7 and 8.1) and for Mac users the supplied DSS Player Plus for macOS application is compatible with macOS X 10.10 and up.

Impact & Alcohol Wipe Resistant Body

The Olympus DS-9500 body is designed to withstand an external shock just in case you drop it. The device can resist damage from a drop of 1.5m. In addition, thanks to the alcohol resistance finish, the device can be wiped with alcohol based cleaners important for our medical users.
